Hello everyone! Today we have a guest reviewer from the Teen Book Club at the Brownsville Public Library. His names is Chayse and he will be reviewing Beastly, which is the book the club pick for the month of August. So without futher adu, Chayse!!!

“Love is never ugly
Now a major motion picture starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer
I am a beast. A beast! Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster.
You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll,stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.”
When I first glanced at this book it caught my interest because it reminded me of the Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast.”  I bought the book and the first couple of pages caught me off guard because I was expecting it to portray the movie. However, as I continued to dive into the book, its pages sucked me into the world of Kyle and his “Beastly” problems. I came to realize as I finished the book that it was “Beauty and the Beast” but at modern view.
What I liked most about the book was the message that Alex Finn hid between the lines. True beauty in a person isn’t what’s on the outside but what comes from within. The message that Alex Finn brings out in this book could relate to anyone, of any age. Yes, this book is portrayed as a young adult book; I believe that an adult would come to love its pages and most definitely its message.
OMG! My favorite character in the book has to be Kendra. The way Alex Finn describes her truly brings out the witch in her. From the very first moment her character is brought into play I fell in love. Although she is a witch, she does help Kyle realize what true beauty is in a person. So fellow readers, not all witches should be considered evil. Especially not Kendra.
To fellow readers out there who’s dying to find a good book to read. I’m sorry to say this is not a good book but a great book. I highly recommend reading this especially if you ever have doubts on true beauty. This book is an awesome transition from a children’s movie to a modern day teen read. This book is an easy read and its pages will grab hold of you till the very end.
Chayse gives it 4 BITES!
Happy Reading and Thank You Chayse for that wonderful review!

Well done Chayse! I haven’t read this one but I did read A Kiss in Time and enjoyed it. Like you said, it wasn’t a read that blew me away, but it was enjoyable and sometimes that’s enough:) Hope to see more guest reviews from you!

I’ve had this book on my TBR pile for a while because I wanted to read it before I saw the movie. Great review and the book sounds like it has an awesome message.
