“Mikayla doesn’t want much: just to rock out to her favorite band, become the next Kwiki Stop video gaming champion, and keep her Q-tip habit under control. What she does want is the sight of the sudden inexplicable dark auras around everyone to stop. Problem is, those auras are demons and Mikayla is the last trait holder with the power to ban them. Which is a total buzz kill.To make matters worse, the town folk of Sulphur Springs don’t look the same, and her classmates are a little dark in the eyes. There are murders, suicides, reckless skinny-dipping, gratuitous use of Q-tips, and newfound powers that Mikayla must learn to control.
Her past becomes present when a shape-shifter tells her what her true identity is, and how to keep the demons of Hell from nipping at her Converse. Through him she’ll discover who to trust, who to kiss, and how valuable her abilities are to the right beings. Because the evils of Hell aren’t staying down without a fight…
Or without her soul.”
As s avid reader, I have had my fair share of stories. This story started off with a bang and lead me down a road of never-wanting-to-finish kind of read. The best part of the story is the main character Mikayla. She is snarky, feisty, says exactly whats on her mind and more. Her attitude remind me of myself back when I was a teen. Her constant smart re-marks made me laugh and snort. There was not one time where I felt bored. With every new chapter, I grew to love the protagonist more. The racing plot line left the reader breathless.
Wow, I wasn’t expecting my from the synopsis, but your review makes it sound quite good. Mikayla sounds like a fun girl.
So glad you enjoyed this one Savy! While some of Mikayla’s quirks frustated me at times, I thought the story itself was great:) And how gorgeous is that cover? Love it.
Stellar endorsement and has the supernatural spooky thing going for it. I’ll have to check it out!
I enjoyed this one as well. I really want to read that next book.
Oh wow this sounds super good I hadn’t really heard of it before though the cover is vaguely familiar!
OoOo I love finding new books through your blog and reviews. I hadn’t heard of this one either but it sounds really really good. I’ll be adding it to my list!
