“Julie Cross’s Vortex is the thrilling second installment of the Tempest series, in which the world hangs in the balance as a lovelorn Jackson must choose who to save
Jackson Meyer has thrown himself into his role as an agent for Tempest, the shadowy division of the CIA that handles all time-travel-related threats. Despite his heartbreak at losing the love of his life, Jackson has proved himself to be an excellent agent. However, after an accidental run in with Holly—the girl he altered history to save—Jackson is once again reminded of what he’s lost. And when Eyewall, an opposing division of the CIA, emerges, Jackson and his fellow agents not only find themselves under attack, but Jackson begins to discover that the world around him has changed and someone knows about his erased relationship with Holly, putting both their lives at risk all over again.”
Since Tempest was sooo good, I had to get my greedy hands on this book. Now that I have read it, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed.
The reason that I am disappointed is that, it felt like I was reading Tempest again just without some characters. Nothing really moved till your half-way through the book. I was hoping that the plot would be a bit more fulfilling than what I read.
Now, once your past all the stuff you’ve read before, its awesome. Things have come to light with Jackson’s time travel capabilities as well as new characters coming into play. I like that there are new plot twist that kept me entertained. Jackson is learning a lot of lessons including why messing with time is not such a good idea.
The love interest became VERY interesting once Jackson does the unthinkable. Not going to say what it is, but believe me when I say their relationship is off course and at a place I never thought it be.
Overall, Vortex is good. Despite the dragging beginning, I managed to keep reading and enjoyed the end. Vortex has a maddening plot twists that makes you want to KNOW! A good story, Vortex is decent.
I give it 3 BITES!
Happy Reading!
I’m glad you enjoyed this overall despite the beginning. I really need to start this series. Maybe I’ll wait until book three is out, so I can move quickly beyond this one. Great review! 🙂
I had been dying to read this, and then I got it from the library and never got to it. *sigh* It’s too bad it wasn’t great, but I’m glad that you still enjoyed it. I will try again sometime when I have more time to get to it.
