Winning what you want may cost you everything you love.

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction.

Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

I’m not sure if any words I say will convey how much I LOVED this book!

Plot: This is about a rich girl who gets more than she bargained for.  I love this story. The plot builds up at a nice slow pace that I enjoyed for once. Normally am I’m all about,” hurry up, get to the meat.” But this book killed me softly. The world building is exquisite and sensational. I could not get enough of it.

Love: Now this folks, is the best part. You have two people who aren’t really who they say. They put up a front of who they are. Little by little like an onion, their layers pull back and the reader sees them. The girl who loves to play on the piano, the man who wants something of his old life back. And when they fall in love it’s like magic.

Ending: The ending is such a punch in the gut I want to get punch again! LOL. Not sure if that made sense, but that end is WOW. Breathtaking and  in your face that you can’t help but get all hyped up about it.

This is an amazing book that everyone needs to go out and read RIGHT NOW! Beautifully written  that is animated with emotions and great plot, The Winner’s Curse is a WIN!

I give it 5 BITES!
