You don't have to be good to be perfect. From Sara Shepard, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars series, comes another series full of juicy secrets, nail-biting suspense, and beautiful girls who will do anything to hide the ugly truth.Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker are all driven to be perfect—no matter the cost. At first the girls think they have nothing in common, until they discover that they all hate the same person: handsome womanizer Nolan Hotchkiss, who's done things to hurt each of them. They come up with the perfect plan to murder Nolan—jokingly, of course. They'd never actually go through with it. But when Nolan turns up dead in the exact way they'd discussed, the girls suddenly become prime suspects in his murder. Only, they didn't do it. So who did? Unless they find the real killer, and soon, their perfect lives will come crashing down around them.
I have never read a Sara Shepard book before but I know I am quite familiar with the television series, Pretty Little Liars. I do have to admit I have fallen behind but I did decide to read a book from the story master but I decided to check out her other series The Perfectionists. And let me just say this book is beyond the perfect thriller book that will leave you wanting more.
The story follows a group of girls who all have their own secrets, their own life drama, but who all have one secret and it ends in murder. I loved the plot, there were some things I loved about the story and there was somethings I wish were a little different but overall I can honestly I was hooked.
Each character brought something different to the story and each had their own personal battle dealing with. From where they lived, to boyfriend problems, to back-stabbing friends. And sometimes people look to other people for help but secrets are slowly revealed and the person who were hoping to find is something that just adds to the problem. Especially the cops, I wanted to smack them in this book seriously, they were really unprofessional and I would not feel safe with them watching over me.
The only beef I have with this book was that it felt like another pretty little liars and maybe that was the point but I was hoping for the truth. I saw each of the liars in the characters in this book in some form and it came off repetitive.
Overall I loved the story, the writing was impeccable, and it was a really good read. A book with a good mystery thriller effect that will leave you wanting more, go check this out and see for yourself.
Happy Reading!
I’ve been thinking about reading this series because every other book by her that I’ve read I’ve flown through. It’s such easy and thrilling reading. I’m a little bummed to hear that the characters seem similar to the PLL characters. I was kind of hoping that this series would be a lot different (even though the cover kind of looks really similar). Great review!! Glad to see someone reading something different!!
