Jeth Seagrave and his crew are on the run. The ITA, still holding Jeth’s mother in a remote research lab, is now intent on acquiring the metatech secrets Jeth’s sister Cora carries inside her DNA, and Jeth is desperate to find the resources he needs to rescue his mother and start a new life outside the Confederation. But the ITA is just as desperate, and Jeth soon finds himself pursued by a mysterious figure hell-bent on capturing him and his crew—dead or alive.

With nowhere to run and only one play left, Jeth enters into a bargain with the last person he ever thought he’d see again: Daxton Price, the galaxy’s newest and most fearsome crime lord. Dax promises to help Jeth, but his help will only come at a price—a price that could mean sacrificing everything Jeth has fought for until now.

Why does this series have to come to a close? I was loving every page, every character, and everything about it. I know that all good things must come to an end but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Mindee Arnett captured my soul in her first book Avalon and kept hold of it till the end.

Arnett struck many cords in this novel and I felt that she hit the sacrifices running. She played the odds in this book and I felt that what she did produced a rising sequel. The overall story was heart pounding and this book never felt to apologize when it ripped me to shreds. Emotions were definitely played with while flipping the pages and it is definitely a book to keep you at the edges of your seat.

What I liked a lot was the fact that even though I am a big science-fiction fan, she didn’t really put too many confusing science fiction ideas in here without a proper explanation. For me, everything was straight forward and the idea of science fiction was at a much more enjoyable area.

Jeth is struggling internally, especially in the beginning, and throughout the book he will have to make choices that might be hard but are necessary. There are new characters in the book that bring a different twist to the book. I love how the romance was there but not made into a big spotlight feature. Different taste on the romance in books.

Overall Mindee Arnett captured my heart even more. I am so excited that I stumbled onto this couplet and I will make it a point to place Ms. Arnett on my future reading lists.

Happy Reading!

So glad you loved this! The first book wasn’t really for me, so I didn’t read this, but glad to hear that the duology ended in a way that you were happy with!
