It’s been three months since Amy escaped New Hope, and she’s been surviving on her own, like she did in the After. Until one day, her former fellow Guardian’s voice rings out in her earpiece. And in a desperate tone, Kay utters the four words Amy had hoped she would never hear: Dr. Reynolds has Baby.
Now it’s a race against time, for Baby is in imminent danger, her life threatened by the malevolent doctor who had helped start the end of the world. In order to save Baby, Amy must make her way to Fort Black, a prison-turned-survivor-colony, where she will need to find Ken, Kay’s brother. He alone holds the key to Baby’s survival.
One small slip-up on this quest could spark a downward spiral that would not only cost Baby and Amy their lives, but threaten the very survival of the people in the After.
In the After told us what survival meant, how to survive, and how to fight. In the End taught us what it is like to fight for the ones you love. In the conclusion of this dystopian couplet, Demitria writes a captivating read that will leave you feeling okay.
The story continues from when Amy escapes New Hope leaving Baby to where she thinks she will be safe until she hears that Baby is in the hands of the person she detests, Dr. Reynolds. Now Amy must find a person who might have a chance of saving baby. However, she can’t find him. Set in a world of twists and turns, adventure, and love In the End is truly a book that will have you on your toes.
Amy is a different person in this book. She is much stronger, her mind is set on what she knows how to do but although she is different on the outside we still see this vulnerability in her whenever she starts to think of Baby. She has to make choices in this book and I feel that there are some mistakes but from these mistakes she grows.
There are some characters that are new in this book that provide support to her and help her in making some of her decisions. Jacks was an interesting character, he was protective and there were times he was over protective and sometimes him being over protective was too much. He had secrets that he wanted to keep buried but secrets always come out sooner or later.
With secrets we learn more about the experimentation, we learn Baby’s name, and we learn that there are more of her out there. I feel that these secrets are dangerous to keep hidden because it put people in danger and we see this constantly in the novel.
If I had not seen the synopsis I would have thought that there was going to be a third book but sadly there isn’t. This is another series that I have finished that I am sad to see go. Going back to the ending I thought it was okay. It wasn’t the perfect leave me satisfied to my fullest potential but it was okay. I don’t know if it hard for authors to end a series after putting all their heart and soul in it but I guess sometimes it works and sometimes it didn’t.
No matter the ending, I loved this series and I want everyone to know that including the author. It was a great adventure that was both exciting and thrilling. A great series to not pass up.
I give this book 5 bites!
