“Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Venus Cove. But everything changes when three angels are sent from heaven to protect the town against the gathering forces of darkness: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. They work hard to conceal their true identity and, most of all, their wings.

But the mission is threatened when the youngest angel, Bethany, is sent to high school and falls in love with the handsome school captain, Xavier Woods. Will she defy the laws of Heaven by loving him? Things come to a head when the angels realize they are not the only supernatural power in Venus Cove. There?s a new kid in town and he?s charming, seductive and deadly. Worst of all, he?s after Beth?.”

I must say that I really enjoyed this book. I love the whole aspect of angels on earth, healing and protecting others. And this story was one that truly captured my heart.
Now, some may not like this book being that it did start off slow. It took me a couple of chapters to finally get into the book. Also it has a lot of biblical references. So if you are not familiar with that, you might not understand all that it is in the book.
Beth is sent to earth on a divine mission. Her mission is to simply place faith in others where they lack. Beth is faced with a town that has been wreak in havoc by evil. She does her best, by fitting in and helping others. In doing so, she meets a boy who she falls in love with. That was not part of her mission. Beth is faced to come to terms when her brother Gabriel is called to the covenant. When he returns, her consequences is not what she expected…
I love how Ms. Adornetto connected with the angels. She wrote these characters strong, yet weak. By that I mean when they come to earth, they have no idea about the way their bodies work, culture works, school works, etc. They do manage to fit in quickly and the small miracles that they do are great.
I really enjoyed the twist in the book. I like how Ms. Adornetto uses both sides (heaven and hell) in this book. The way she twisted everything around was great. Some things I saw coming, and while others (like Beth’s consequences) was something I did not see coming. It just goes to show, that what God has planned for is something we may never know. We just have to trust ours hearts and God.
I give it 5 BITES!
Happy Reading!

  1. oooo I’ve been wanting to read this sine before it came out (July)! It looks sooo good. Apparently the author is 18 or 19 now- that’s pretty impressive. I really liked your review. I need to bump this book up on my TBR list. Have a great week 🙂

I’ve had this one on my list for a while but I’ve read mixed reviews so I hesitated to buy it. I think I’ll give it a try though, I’m a big fan of the angel stories and the twist you mentioned has me intrigued:) Thanks for your thoughts Savy!

I’ve had this one marked to-read for a while, too, but never bumped it to priority status. Your review has sparked the intrigue, though. Thanks for saying it the way you did!

I hated this book. It was one of the rare ones I didn’t finish. I found it boring. The bad guy had only just arrived 3/4 of the way in (so where was the drama/action up to then?)I stopped reading at that point. He was so cliched.

The angels were priggish and shallow, and the Christianity was so heavy handed that I felt like I was being preached at. I guess I feel that angels would be more enlightened and gutsy than that.

Sorry this is one where I can’t agree with you. I gave it one star.

I think that if the writer had a more enlightened/broader vision of Christianity the book would have a lot more depth.
