Baalboden has been ravaged. The brutal Commander's whereabouts are unknown. And Rachel, grief stricken over her father's death, needs Logan more than ever. With their ragged group of survivors struggling to forge a future, it's up to Logan to become the leader they need—with Rachel by his side. Under constant threat from rival Carrington's army, who is after the device that controls the Cursed One, the group decides to abandon the ruins of their home and take their chances in the Wasteland.
But soon their problems intensify tenfold: someone—possibly inside their ranks—is sabotaging the survivors, picking them off one by one. The chaos and uncertainty of each day puts unbearable strain on Rachel and Logan, and it isn't long before they feel their love splintering. Even worse, as it becomes clear that the Commander will stop at nothing to destroy them, the band of survivors begins to question whether the price of freedom may be too great—and whether, hunted by their enemies and the murderous traitor in their midst, they can make it out of the Wasteland alive.
In this daring sequel to Defiance, with the world they once loved forever destroyed, Rachel and Logan must decide between a life on the run and standing their ground to fight.
This is an awesome story! Fast-paced, laced with lots of action, I adored it!
Plot: If you have not read Defiance, I strongly suggest you do. The story picks up right where the last book left off. Rachel is dealing with after math of the attack in Defiance. Lots of peoples are scared and asking lots of questions in which Rachel could only answer some. I really loved how each chapter build up nicely to the next big event. The plot moved with great pacing, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in this world. Even for me, as I read it, I didn’t realize I was half-way through the book till I got interrupted.
Love: The love between Rachel and Logan grew fiercely strong. I adore how great of partners they make for each other. Though times are tough, these characters pulled through for each other day in and day out. They fought next to each other and stood by each other with every loss of friends/family members. This love is not only triumphant, but so amazing to feel.
Ending: The building towards to end with lots of secrets being revealed really mess with my head. The ending left me hooked and wanting more. I could say more but I’m afraid I will ruin for you all. Just read the book. Believe me, its awesome.
Deception is an excellent sequel to Defiance. The strength of the plot emerges with great characters and drama. Combine with a numerous amounts of elements, Deception will not leave you bored. A marvelous and fantastic tale, Deception delivers a savoring story.
I give it 5 BITES!
Happy Reading!
Glad you loved this one Savy! I agree on the romance, I loved that Logan and Rachel were so solid, there was no doubt at all that they loved one another and there was no threat of another person coming in and shaking things up between them. Yay for no love triangle!
I’ve been hearing lots of good things about this. I should really go back and read Defiance.
I’ve been meaning to read this series! I have the first book sitting on my shelf… I’ll have to read it soon!
I read the first book but I wasn’t as big a fan of it so I never got this sequel. I’m glad you enjoyed it just as much I’m often disappointed by sequels – middle book syndrome sucks!!
I love when the sequel brings it and is good. Still need to read the first one, but you have me wanting to read it! Brilly review!
I haven’t read DEFIANCE but I love the covers for both of these books. They are gorgeous. Need to check these out!
