What an absolute joy to read! I laughed out loud. Repeatedly. Bite Me, Try Me, Fang Me written by Parker Blue and published by Bell Bridge Books. This particular edition is a set of all three stand-alone books (the Demon Underground series) in one.

In Bite Me our heroine, Val, is feeling friendless and lonely. As a part-demon in a paranormal-oblivious world she has been home-schooled alone, knows no other demons, and has no human friends. It's her 18th birthday and she's out looking for a vampire to stake. When she returns home with her AWOL younger sister, her parents tell her that in order to protect her sister, she must move out of her home – and find a new job. She discovers the special (secret) Special (as in paranormal) Crime Unit of the local police and the Demon Underground, an alliance of demons/part-demons who work to support each other in this human world.

In Try Me, second book in the Demon Underground series, Val's position in the Special (paranormal) Crimes Unit has been damaged by the revelation that her demon is a succubus and her emotions are tried by the desertion of her first love. On the other hand, Micah is teaching her how to control her demon, the part-shadow demon Shade makes her feel valued, and Fang is still her friend.

The third book, Fang Me, is the story of retrieving the bespelled Encyclopedia Magika, a powerful set of books given to Val just before her father's death; the books had disappeared one day many years before. Val returned them to the Demon Underground in time for them to be stolen again! It's difficult to know the thief but eventually the who, how, and why are discovered. In the meantime, Val is working for the "good" vampires because she had used her services to guarantee the Underground's side of an agreement with the vamps.(less)

“An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.”

The first book was explosive. It was jammed packed with fighting, drama, and a girl who was trying to find herself. The reader got put immediately in her shoes and you felt her anger, well at least I did. Val never got a break. She was blamed for everything and told to stay away from her family. It was harsh. The way that she found herself I liked. She put her powers to use in a good way helping keeping the city safe. I adored her strength to keep her head on straight and do what needed to be done regardless of her feelings.

The love interest was good. Although, I am a bit miffed at the way Dan treated her. Dan, you are a Class A jerkwad. That is all.

I give it 5 BITES!
“This part-demon teen vampire fighter and her faithful terrier hellhound are once again patrolling the dark city streets of San Antonio, Texas. Val’s hunky human partner, Detective Dan Sullivan, is giving her the cold shoulder since she beheaded his vampire ex-fiancée. Vamp leader Alejandro is struggling to keep the peace between vamps, demons and humans. The mucho powerful Encyclopedia Magicka has been stolen, someone in the Demon Underground is poisoning vamps, and Val’s inner lust demon, Lola, is getting very restless since Val’s now partnered with sexy Shade, the shadow demon with the blond good looks of an angel.”

This book still kept the action but it was tone down a bit. It was more about her relationship with people and finding out who she really was. She was discovering who her father was and if there are others out there like her. I am glad that she is able to find the answer that she is seeking. Some of them were hard to face, but she did it. I love her hellhound dog. I really believe that without that dog giving her the strength that she needed she may not be where she is at. That dog always gives her the truth and the right amount of encouragement.

Oh and I still thinks Dan is a Class A Jerkwad!

 I give it 4 BITES!

“The vampires want it. The demons want it too. And someone is willing to kill Val for it.
Val and Fang have to find the powerful Encyclopedia Magicka before either of San Antonio’s warring underworld factions locate it, or the consequences will be deadly for the entire city.

As usual, Val’s vampire enemies (they still call her The Slayer,) want her dead, and even some of her fellow demons may be less than trustworthy, since they’d like to grab the legendary book of spells before she does. Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia–her demon father left it to her when he died–but someone stole it recently. Where did the thief hide it?

Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery. At the same time, she’s fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade, her favorite incubus. Rumor has it that Val will lose her half-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him.

With a crowd of vamps and demons out to trick her or kill her, it’s not a good time for her to risk her job as the city’s best vampire hunter by falling in love. The stakes are high–and aimed right at her heart. But Lola, Val’s hungry little lust demon, doesn’t like being denied. Will Lola finally get her way?”

This book has so much action in it. As the reader, we finally get some real answers as to what is going on. I love that Val finally found someone who can appreciate her. I now how some kind of respect for Dan, but I still think he is jerkwad for what he did. Val is also learning to control her inner demon. In the beginning, you see her struggle with who she is. I was happy to see that Val has accepted everything and is learning more and more control. The big showdown at the end was sweet. I adored all the sword action and fighting. This is one series I am now hooked on!

The series is not done yet. There are still more on the way. The Demon Underground series is great for those who love some real drama and real fighting. This series had my heart racing! It made me feel Val’s every emotion! If you love paranormal romance, fighting, and some real good betrayal, read this series! Plus, you’ll fall in love with Fang!

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy Reading!
