Halloween Character Booktacular with (Jus Accardo)

Oct •  26 •  2012

Hello everyone! Today I have an awesome from Jus Accardo Touch series 🙂
Enjoy!
“A couple crossed the lawn, the girl dressed as Little Bo Peep, and her freakishly tall date, like a black sheep. She was leading him toward the house by a long leash and collar. Oh, yeah. Curd was going to have a field day with that.

Kale lifted his hood to peer at the couple. “I still don’t understand the point of all this.”

I smiled and wrapped my arm around his waist. It’d taken some convincing, but I managed to coax him into coming to Curd’s famous Halloween bash. Every year something epic happened. Last year’s highlight was a brawl between the yellow Teletubby and Thor. The year before that, Santa Claus did a strip tease, then ran naked—except for the snowy beard and hat—up and down the road for twenty minutes. I couldn’t wait to see what happened this year. “It’s fun!”

Kale didn’t seem convinced. He watched Bo Peep and her human sheep enter the house, then sighed. “You say that a lot. You said that about the place last night. I broke that man’s jaw. I’m not sure he thought it was fun…”

Oops. I’d taken Kale to the Firehouse’s charity haunted house and it hadn’t ended well. In fact, I was pretty sure he’d traumatized several small children when one of the workers jumped out at us wearing a ski mask and waving a chainsaw. Kale had gone all Denazen-Ninja on him, and, well, yeah… “That was my bad. I should have warned you people were going to jump out at us.”

“Is someone going to jump out at us in there, too?”

“No jumping,” I promised, taking his hand. “Maybe some kisses…”

He smiled, then hesitated. “From you, right?”

            “From me,” I confirmed.

He nodded and we started across the street. Just before we got to the door, Kale paused. “And who am I supposed to be again?”

I reached across and adjusted the quiver strapped to his back. He was decked out in black jeans and a matching hoodie, with leather gloves and a bow. “Hawkeye. He’s a good guy. Fights crime with mad archery skill.”

Kale frowned and pulled one of the arrows out, waving it around. “How am I supposed to fight crime with cardboard arrows? I don’t see them doing much damage.”

“You’re not. It’s just a costume. For show. You’re here to have fun, not fight.”

“Then why dress like someone who fights crime?”

“That’s the point of Halloween. You get to be someone else for a night.”

“I don’t want to be someone else,” he said firmly, giving the fake arrow another shake. “I don’t want you to be someone else, either.”

“I’m still me—just dressed in awesome leather.” I twirled around and gave my but a little wiggle. I’d decked myself out as the Black Widow. “Come on. Admit it. I look awesome.”

The arrow slipped from Kale’s hand as he ran a finger across my cheek and down my neck. “You always look—”

A black blur danced into my field of vision, and an odd growling sound filled the air. I opened my mouth to warn him, but it was too late. Kale had already whirled around, knocking a Grim Reaper to the grass and pinning him there by the throat.

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a handful of his hoodie, hefting upward. The guy stumbled to his feet and fled toward the house without looking back. “Are you still wondering why we didn’t use real arrows?”

            “I see your point.”

I need to read this series Savy! Kale sounds perfectly adorable. And also clearly dangerous. But adorably dangerous if that makes sense. And him dressed as Hawkeye? HOT! Thanks so much for sharing this little scene!
