A troubled teen. A rescued Rottweiler. An unlikely friendship.

Jimmer “JD” Dobbs is back in town after spending the summer “upstate.” No one believes his story about visiting his aunt, and it’s pretty clear that he has something to hide. It’s also pretty clear that his mom made a new friend while he was away—a rescued Rottweiler that JD immediately renames Johnny Rotten (yes, after that guy in the Sex Pistols). Both tough but damaged, JD and Johnny slowly learn to trust each other, but their newfound bond is threatened by a treacherous friend and one snap of Johnny’s powerful jaws. As the secrets JD has tried so hard to keep under wraps start to unravel, he suddenly has something much bigger to worry about: saving his dog.

Reading a story about redemption and following your heart always is a great recipe.

The plot of the book is touching and automatically enticing. Especially if your a dog lover like myself. And rescuing a dog that has been abused and only to be put into another scandal it only fuels me to read fast. I like that the plot didn’t only deal with Johnny Rotten but also what is going around in JD’s life. Friends, family and of course a special girl. The author managed to mix everything in well that it flowed beautifully.

There are many relationships on the book that I felt were down great. The relationship with the dog, Johnny Rotten. The relationship with his mom, which I adored cause you don’t see many relationships with the parents involved in YA  a lot. And of course, the love interest with a girl. Every relationship had a part in JD’s life that gave the story much more interest. JD’s friends betraying him, the girl crush helping him, and JD learning to help his mom whenever possible.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. With a realistic plot, any reader wants to save Johnny Rotten. The redemption not only in JD but as well as Johnny Rotten gives the reader hope.  Rotten is a story that can charm anyone. A visually impressive story, Rotten is great!

I give it 4 BITES!

Look at your blog Savy! You’ve made the switch really fast, I hope it was fairly stress free as well. I’ve thought about switching over so many times, but I’m scared to actually do it. And also lazy:)

As an epic dog lover, I’m really excited about this book! Though, I have to admit I skipped straight to the end first to see what becomes of the dog. I’m not good with books or movies where bad things happen to animals, so I had to cheat with this one first:)

Thanks Jenny! I was so nervous making the move. But it all went smoother than what I thought. And you know what, I love it!

And yes I know what you mean. I too had to skip just to make sure that Johnny Rotten will be okay. LOL!

  2. At least I’m not the only one who skipped to make sure. LOL

Oh and I loved the love interest and slight romance. So sweet! Love that dog! 🙂

I didn’t skip to the end, but I was tempted! This really was a great read!

Ahhhhh! #Wants so bad! Been eyeing this book forever. The author is my agent mate and pub house mate and I still can’t manage to get my hands on it. Will have to buy if I don’t win. Will probably buy anyway. Two of the same book does not equal badness. 🙂
