Hello everyone! Today I have the lovely author Angeline Kace, author of Descended by Blood!
Descended by Blood Book One of the Vampire Born Trilogy
“Brooke Keller is a high school junior who has never spent much time living in one place. She is finally in a town long enough to almost snag the boy of her dreams, until her life is threatened after killing a fanged man in his attempt to kidnap her. Brooke begins a dangerous journey in an effort to find out who is after her and how to stop them. Thrown into a world with powerful and prejudiced vampires, Brooke must tap into the side of her that she never knew existed at the risk of losing her life in order to save it.”
1. I love the cover of your book! Does it have any significance to the story?
Thank you! My cover artist, Robin Ludwig, is amazing! I really didn’t know what I wanted for the cover. All I knew was that I wanted to have Brooke on the front. I gave my cover artist the link to the stock photos of the model I thought best resembled Brooke, and she sent me back a few she thought she could work with. So, I guess the only significance is that Brooke is on the cover. 😉
2. Can you tell us a little bit of what you are working on now? What can we expect in your second book?
My next project is the sequel to Descended by Blood, Enemy Within. I haven’t actually gotten to the actual “writing” phase of it yet. I have the main story line plotted out, and I have scenes that came to me as I was working on Descended by Blood that I recorded on a voice recorder so I wouldn’t lose them. My goal is to figure out any kinks the story has and start writing on it by the beginning of next month.
3. In writing the sequel to Descended by Blood, was it easier or harder to write?
I haven’t really started the writing part yet, but in the planning alone, it seems harder in a lot of ways. Not only do I need to build on everything from Descended by Blood, but I have to make all those things better. I also have to set things up for book 3, and the resolution of the series. Plus, Enemy Within comes with a lot more expectations. People have read the book and will expect certain things. And finally, I’m really going to try to avoid that second book slump. It’s rare to find a series where the second book is better than the first, but I’m REALLY going to attempt it.
4. If you can have dinner with any fictional characters who would it be and why?
Oh man, that’s a tough one! The first characters that come to mind are, of course, vampires. I’d really like to meet Eric Northman. The version from the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Oh, and Pam would be fun to meet too. I’d also really like to meet Cat & Bones from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. I LOVE those two together, so I think it’d be really fun to spend an evening with them. I’d also really like to meet Kisten from Kim Harrisson’s Rachel Morgan series. I LOVED Kisten. He grew and grew on me until I utterly loved him.
5. With the arrival of Fall, what books do you plan on reading?
I really don’t have a lot of time to read since I took up writing, but I still like to squeeze it in when I can. I’m way behind on a lot of the series I used to follow (as in, I would get the next book in each series ON release day), but I’ve been more into indie books lately. I’m not really sure why, but those books have more urgency or immediacy to them, and I tend to bump them up on my reading list. Maybe because I know a lot of the authors or something. I’m not sure. But some the books I’m really looking forward to reading this fall are:
Cold Blood by Heather Hildenbrand. I LOVED Dirty Blood. Tara was awesome, and I loved Wes. I’ve been after Heather to read the next book ever since I read Dirty Blood. Cold Blood is coming out in November, but I’ll get to read it before then (the perks of having a talented author as your Critique Partner). 😉
Pyxis by K.C. Neal is another one I’m looking forward to. This book just sounds amazing, and I can’t wait to get my fingers on it.
Another one I’m looking forward to is Shift by M.R. Merrick. If you’ve read Exiled you’ll know why. Exiled is awesome, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from Matt!
I’m also looking forward to Alexander Death by JL Bryan, and finally getting around to reading book 5 in Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. Yeah, book 6 is coming out soon, and I have yet to read book 5. Shame on me, I know.
Thanks for hosting me today Savannah! I love your blog, so it’s been pretty exciting for me to stop here on the tour!
