“When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn’t realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.”
“At Barinkoff Academy, there’s only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans.”

Academy? Check! Hot Boys? Double Check! A girl who breaks all the rules? Check! I am honored to read this book especially since I have been waiting for her to get published. And folks,  Taste did not disappoint.

I’m going to start off with what I felt was unique in the book. The story line follows a young girl who pretty much lost everything in her life. Her mother is out of her life and her father is busying himself elsewhere. I like that Ms. Evangelist present the reader with such strong emotions. You felt Phoenix loneliness, her reaching out for something more. So as the reader, you can’t help but go along with her breaking rules.

There are other characters of the book that really made you fall harder. Secrets the academy hold are great. I felt that this world building for the school, the night students is the best part of the book. Once Phoenix breaks the rules it totally reminds me of Edward Cullen when he says,” Were breaking all the rules now anyway, since I’m going to hell.” At first, I was shocked by her disregard for breaking the rules. But you know what? It’s make the story cause you know, you just know that there is something different about her.

The love interest is expected but for me I felt it much more passionate. The way that Demitri took things for her, his selfless sacrifice only made me fall in love with him more. He adore her and did everything in his power to protect her, even if it mean his death.

Overall Taste is a fantastic book! With marvelous writing, great world building, the reader falls into Taste fast. Ambitious and darkly intriguing, Taste is awesome!

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy Reading!
