"Sixteen-year-old Dani is convinced she has nine lives. As a child she twice walked away from situations where she should have died. But Dani’s twin, Jena, isn’t so lucky.  She has cancer and might not even be able to keep her one life. Dani’s father is in denial. Her mother is trying to hold it together and prove everything’s normal.  And Jena is wasting away.  To cope, Dani sets out to rid herself of all her extra lives.  Maybe they’ll be released into the universe and someone who wants to live more than she does will get one.  Someone like Jena.  But just when Dani finds herself at the breaking point, she’s faced with a startling realization.  Maybe she doesn’t have nine lives after all.  Maybe she really only ever had one."

This book gives the reader something real and fresh. Never disappointing, this story captures the reader with emotions that are sure to make your heart stop.

One thing I loved about this story is well just the story. The story alone twins, one okay and one sick with cancer brings already much emotions with it. The author presents how close these sister are despite the illness the hovers around them. I liked the small the had together of creating stories and being regular sisters.

The jealousy. Now this part I like. There are two types of jealousy going on. There’s the sick twin Jenna, who longs just to have a regular life. She never really come right out and say it, but the reader can definitely feel her longing for something other than being in bed all the time. The jealousy of Dani, always being pushed aside for Jenna’s care. It’s understandable, but sometimes Dani needed her parents. I can’t imagine the struggle her parents go through.

What captures me the most is the reality of it. To feel what Dani feels, to be in her shoes takes me for a story that I never felt before. Dani is very clear and clever. I love that way that she thinks cause for me, she makes sense. Why not give your life for someone you love? Why not her? Why? Why? Why?

All These Lives is a fantastic portrait that you must read. Vivid in all details, once you start reading, you are drowning. All These Lives is excellent!

I give it 4 BITES!

This was a heavy read I though, it was hard to watch both Dani and Jena struggle, but you’re right that it was realistic and the heaviness fit the story being told. Fantastic review Savy:)

I really liked this one too. I thought that the author did a great job at delivering a totally different persepctive than a lot of books with a similar subject matter.

  4. Oh I knew it would be a heavy read, but I didn’t think it would be that good. Oh I think you changed my mind, I need to read this one.

This sounds like it would be really good. I had seen it on Goodreads but was on a stand still until I heard some things about it but you’ve changed my mind and I want my hands on it now.

I’ll have to read this book, if it’s that good! Sometimes, it’s good to read a “heavy” book so I’ll add this to my list!

I love the review. It is true that at some point of our lives that we had come across through realizations and we had become better persons. Self loathing, insecurity and jealousy are part and spice. Thanks for the review! This is a must read book.AML
