Title: I Am Number Four
Series: Lorein Legacies #1
Genre: Young Adult-Fantasy
Author: Pittacus Lore
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: August 3, 2010
Book: Bought

“In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.

I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT.”

I inhaled this book. I literally read it in a matters of hours. My eyes just ran across the pages taking anything and everything in. This book had everything in it. Action, adventure, love, fighting, and even the constant on the run from something that keeps following you was one that keep me on my toes.

Number Four, is just tired. Tired of hiding, changing names, changing homes, just changing in general has him going crazy. But if he makes one mistake, he is dead. Forced from his home planet of Lorien, he is hiding on earth with his keeper, keeping one step ahead of the Mogadorian. They have followed him to earth, killing his off whats left of his people one by one. They have killed Number One, Number Two and Number Three. He is next.

This book is pure awesomeness. I really enjoyed reading every minute of it. This book is told from a boys POV and I just loved him. I loved his willingness to survive and fight. He goes through all the normal teenage drama, expect for gaining mysterious powers. He even has a crush, which I adored. But when a girl comes into the pictures, things start to go wrong. Why? He starts to make mistakes.

I just love seeing him become himself. He was so afraid and always running it was good to see him comfortable in his shoes. He slowly became himself and became comfortable with her. He no longer wanted to hide but to be open and safe with her. He knew what he was getting into and decided that was it. No more running. Then came Number 6. Number 6 is my kind of gal! She totally kicks butt! I loved her fighting and her knowledge of what was happening. She was the icing on the cake. Fresh and delicious.

If you have not picked this book up, you should. I can’t even begin to express how much I loved the book other than it was awesome. From the first page I knew that this would make one heck of a movie.
If you don’t know the movie comes out February 18, 2011, which I am totally going to.

I give it 5 BITES!

Happy Reading!

YAY! I am SO thrilled to see a great review for this book! I really enjoyed it, but I know a lot of people thought it fell flat. I can’t freaking wait for The Power of Six. Great review, Savy! 🙂

I didn’t quite enjoy this one as I thought I would. And ironically, I think the movie will be better. Sigh.

I still want to read this one even after all the controversy with the author and his factory of writers, so glad to see you enjoyed it Savy! It sounds really character-driven and that’s always my favorite type of story:)

I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf since May and for some reason it hasn’t grabbed my attention. Your review has me thinking of giving it a go this week.

I’ve heard about this for a while, but the cover just pushes me away each time. BUT after your review, and with the ticking clock in my head that is telling me there will soon be a movie cover and no more original cover (I dislike movie/show covers) I’ll probably be picking this up today!

@small review. It does indeed. I need the second book already.

@chapterchicks, the new cover for the movie tie-in is HOT! I think the movie is going to be awesome.

@kateevangelista, yeah that what my hubby said after I read it and told him about it. He watched the trailer and said it was better than what it sounded like. I think the movie and the book are going to be the same, SWEET!

Hey! Awesome review. I inhaled this one too. So much action! And I loved Number Six – but she didn’t make an appearance until the story was over, so I kept reading it going “is Six here yet? Where’s Six?” Lol.

Great review, Savy. So glad you liked it. I do own this book, but I’ve been on the fence about reading it. You have changed my mind. 😀

  10. I haven’t read this one, but I’m curious. I want to see the movie if I read the book or not. However, you may have encouraged me to try the book first. 🙂

  11. I’ve held off reading this one. First of all I’ve read some mixed reviews, and also because of that ‘factory of writers’ controversy. It sounds promising, though. Maybe I’ll give it a go!

    Hi Savvy,
Thought I’d stop by on your end and see what’s going on 🙂 Sounds like you really dug this book, and now that you sort of explained it more, I got a better feel for what it’s really about besides the blurb, and it sounds fantastic!

    Happy New Year! 🙂
