“Bethany and Xavier are even closer since battling Jake Thorn and his evil influence (in Halo) and Beth and her angel siblings must still protect Venus Cove from the Dark Forces.

When a party game – a séance – inadvertently releases Jake from the Underworld, he disguises himself and tricks Beth into taking a ride on his motorcycle. When the highway opens up and swallows them, Beth learns too late that she’s now a prisoner in hell. What happens to angels there? As her archangel brother, Gabriel, her sister Ivy, Xavier, and her best friend, Molly search for her, Beth must weigh Jake’s bargaining for her freedom: one night with him, and she will be released back to Earth.
Can Jake be trusted in this wager? And is he also using Beth to engineer the fall of the archangel Gabriel? Xavier has already lost one love – when Jake tricks him into thinking that Bethany is dead, his grief and anger result in a betrayal that will leave Bethany – and readers – wondering if he is so good after all.

It will be up to Beth to use everything she’s learned about her powers as an angel – and about love – to free herself and those she loves from the clutches of Hades.”

I loved this book! I adored it better then the first book! There is so much good drama in this book that hooks the reader right away. The characters, especially the main character, Bethany, has grown up so much that it leaves the reader breathless.

What I liked the most about this book is the amazing characters. Now that the back round of the story is established, the story gets deeper and better. The reader is immediately captured and taken to Hell. I loved how Ms. Adornetto is clever is using Hell as the main place in this book. I like the trickery in it and the biblical references. It all made sense and flowed well.
The plot line of this book is from the start dynamic. I enjoyed getting sucked in by Ms. Adornetto writing. I loved how well she described the characters, feelings, and places. It all seems very real while reading it and you, the reader are there in the story. The plot pacing is great! Every turn of the page the reader discovers some new secret, a new place to be taken to, new feelings to feel!
And of course, the love interest is as always wonderful! I love how loyal Bethany was in all of the turmoil she went through. It required a lot of faith and a lot of patience. I loved how real she is with Xavier. There love is strong and everlasting. In the end, there is a cliff hanger, one that left me hanging for more.
I can tell you right off the bat that I enjoyed this book far better then the first. This book has so much more in it. It attaches to the reader quickly and you can not stop. It has non-stop action, great tension, lots of decisions making and a great writing style. The war between Heaven and Hell has just started. What side are you on?
I give it 5 BITES!
Happy Reading!

It’s nice when second books do better than the first one. I’ve heard lots of mixed things about Halo so I decided to skip it. Do you think I should give it a try?

  3. I really didn’t like the first book, so I’m not going to read this one. Glad you enjoyed it, though! 🙂

  5. I had heard such mixed reviews on the first, but now I may pick up that one AND this one to read. Oh this sounds like it will be an enjoyable read for me!
