Never, ever cry...

Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean.

And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense.

Can everything you love be washed away?

I have read Lauren Kate’s books before so I knew this would be another series that I was sure to fall in love with. And I was right. Lauren Kate captivated me with this enchanting story of a girl that holds a tremendous power when she cries.

The beginning was sad and we were introduced a little bit about the two sides of this battle but I was still unsure of what was really happening. As I got further into the book, the pieces started to come together and I was falling deeper and deeper into the story. The plot moved fast for me and the chapters connected with each other allowing the story to have a flowing rhythm.

Eureka is a girl with a power that is both powerful and destructive. She was told never to cry and I feel that is where we see her not showing emotion. I felt that she was different for being main character. I felt she was not like other main characters and that is what made this book have originality.

The romance in here is complicated but most all relationships are. I feel that there was love triangle happening but one of the guys just got completely weird and he just had to go. I am interested to see where the other boy goes with Eureka and see how their relationship with each other play out.

Loving every second of the book, Teardrop is a great read for the 2013. I recommend this book to those who want to see a different main character role and for who want to be amazed by words in the book.

I give this book 5 bites!

So does the love triangle actually form, or does the weird guy leave the picture fairly quickly? Such an interesting premise with this one though, so I feel like I can overlook the love triangle aspect, I’m excited to give it a try Chayse!

Great review. Teardrop is breathlessly romantic and utterly unique. The best Lauren Kate yet.
