It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

A timeless love story, THESE BROKEN STARS sets into motion a sweeping science fiction series of companion novels. The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

I am AMAZED by this book! Not only did it blow me away but I want MORE!!

Plot: The plot is pretty similar to what I have read before, but it’s the characters that really make this story a win.  A rich girl and boy from the streets. An unlikely pair, fated in an accident that has more secrets that you can ever imagine. I really love watching this plot unfold chapter after chapter. The reader gets a good insight of the world that is being built around them, allowing the reader to become one with the story. For a moment while reading, I really felt like I was in space and trying to survive.

Love/Friendship: This area of the story is the best part.  The point of views do switch from Lilac and Tarver but they both mesh/flow so seamlessly well. Each pov gives the reader a deeper connection with the characters. It’s like the more I read, the more I know the characters.

Space: Space movies always seem to capture me and so this book did just the trick. I was amazed at the world created. The rich and the poor. The hypocrisy of  who the characters are presented as and who they really are. From the grand parties, to the survival on an island, secrets are exposed and kept me at the edge of my seat.

This is an awesome and amazing book that I can’t not wait to re-read. It presents a solid plot filled with lots of action and excitement that you can not put the book down. These Broken Stars is fast-paced, adventure filled book that you want to read ASAP. Set down and buckle yourself in, your in for a ride of a lifetime!

I give it 5 BITES!

  1. When I first heard about this book back sometime last spring I was really interested in reading it. Then it seemed like over the summer my interest faded. I could’ve requested this on NetGalley but I didn’t feel like this would stand out from other space themed books I’ve read. After reading your review, though? BIG MISTAKE on my part. You make this sound awesome and something I’ll definitely have to buy when it releases!

I know what you mean. There are lots of space adventure books and it’s hard to read something you’ve already read. I gave it a shot and LOVE IT! It really is good. I do hope you get a chance to read it.
