Jolene Perry's THE SUMMER I FOUND YOU, about a teenage girl trying to cope with her new diagnosis of type one diabetes and a teenage male veteran who is learning how to embrace his new life after losing an arm, who come together by using each other as an escape, only to discover through love and struggle that your life is what you make of it.

I can honestly say I love Jolene Perry. All the stories she writes have so much depth and deeper meaning that I can’t help but fall in love with. What a better way to express love with two flawed characters looking for that small ray of hope.

Plot: I adore this plot. It move smoothly giving the reader time to invest and know each character. The reader was giving a good insight of what the characters went through and who they are now. The author presents each struggle with each character nicely. I couldn’t help but fall in love with the story.

Love: What a better way to watch two people fall in love then two mess up people looking for peace. I love watching them fall I love. They didn’t intend too since both their lives were so complicated with their issues but slowly the reader sees both characters peel away each layer of hurt/anger like an onion. I can’t explain it, but their love is one that is true. The hidden secrets and harbored fears of what would happen if the other person knew what they were struggling with, makes it feel real. They even face the truth, knowing the consequence of their actions.  It’s beautiful and breath-taking.

Ending: I really like how this ending is real that you can relate to it. After all the secrets are finally out, both have hard decisions to make. Whether it be good or bad, both characters irrevocably change each other for the better. They both grown so much that no matter what the ending, I knew their lives were altered forever. The ending, had me in tears and I couldn’t shake the smile off my face even if I wanted to.

This story of love is rare and precious. Highly emotional and very addicting, The Summer I Found You excels all my expectations. A satisfying story that has the capacity to captures anyone’s heart, The Summer I Found You is stunning.

I give it 5 BITES!
