Sometimes the Truth Comes with a Price
Nikki knew Damon Vessler would not let his prized creation go easily---she simply never imagined the lengths he'd go to get her back into his clutches, and turn Nikki's heart toward darkness.
A Seeker at her heels, trained on her blood, Nikki flees with Raven alongside her for protection, while Mace and the other Halflings fight the battle that has erupted on earth. But even as the two boys she loves fight for her, she knows the battle will be hers to win. Determined to uncover the secrets of her past, and exactly how she fits into Vessler's twisted plans, Nikki sets off on her own, and soon discovers facing hellacious beasts is nothing compared to the decision she will need to make. One that could change not only the war, and her relationship with Mace and Raven, but her future with the Throne.

OMG!!!! This is the one word that kept going through my mind as I was reading this book. I really don’t know how Ms. Burch does it, but once again I  was captivated by a read that became jaw dropping.

Plot: Fast-paced. This is the word that I can think of when describing how this book and the other books that came before this one went. I felt like it never got me a chance for me to slow down and I never once felt like I wanted to put down. It was so action packed and full of adventure that made my emotions run all over the place. The only thing I could ever wish was that there was more.

Characters: Well the secret is released and Nikki is now living her new life with new responsibilities but there is always a price and this one is dangerous. I felt that Nikki and Raven got to learn a little more about each other on this trip and although they expressed their feelings an understanding was built with them and I felt it left off…well at least until the end of course. Nikki I feel with her new truth that she is  having to deal with, a new strength has arisen within her and she is becoming more and more cautious of what she needs to do, even though there is some things that need to be left hidden but persistence keeps her from forgetting about them.

Romance: This was a tricky topic because of all the time she spends with Raven. But like I said before they did come to an understanding and although the truth is sometimes hard to hear, it was good that it was let off their chests. So I think the connection that Nikki and Raven have as friends is something that is powerful. With Mace and Nikki, there is some tension but overall I feel that he is the best choice overall for her and the two of them share a special connection that most of the other characters will never feel.

Ending: The ending for me had to be the most emotional part of the story. Self-sacrifice is shown and the idea of risking your life is a big part in the ending. However, there is a twist at the end of the book, I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for the next book in the series and see where Ms. Burch decides to take me on an adventure to.

Ms. Burch’s Halflings series is a must read for all readers. Thrilling, emotional, packed full of action and adventure Avenger will surely grab your hearts!

I give it 5 bites!
