Weeks after his crucifixion and rebirth as Phoenix, Ash Fisher believes his troubles are far behind him. He and Natalie are engaged and life seems good. But his happiness is short-lived when he receives a threatening visit from Purian Rose, who gives Ash an ultimatum: vote in favor of Rose’s Law permanently relegating Darklings to the wrong side of the wall or Natalie will be killed.

The decision seems obvious to Ash; he must save Natalie. But when Ash learns about The Tenth, a new and deadly concentration camp where the Darklings would be sent, the choice doesn’t seem so simple. Unable to ignore his conscience, Ash votes against Rose’s Law, signing Natalie’s death warrant and putting a troubled nation back into the throes of bloody battle.(less)

Alright, diving right back into the series I love it. It was easy to slip right back into the world that Ms. Richards created. Every chapter leads to more action and violence. The world is falling apart quickly and the some people aren’t standing back anymore. I really loved that through out the chapters, the reader gets to know more about the city and the laws. We also learn more about Natalie and Ash’s back round history. There is even a traitor in the midst.  Let me tell you that I did NOT see that one coming.

The love interest. I’m not going to say much other than it disappointed me. I mean really? After all you go through for it to fall apart so quickly left me feeling bitter. Even in the end, I still had trouble taking in all that happened.

Overall, Phoenix is a roller coaster of emotions and plot.  Consistent in moving forward to an ultimate build up, Phoenix resulted in a darker moving tale that is pure excitement.

I give it 4 BITES!

  1. Oh this one sounds very intriguing! I still need to read that first book and I can’t wait to dive into that one. So glad this one gives me a twist to look forward!

I didn’t love the first book but I feel a bit curious about this one. The whole romance thing you mentioned has me VERY concerned though. It sounds like something that might make me throw my book across the room. I’ll wait for a few more reviews cause I’m not sure if this series is for me since I didn’t love the first one anyway.
