It's been one year since all the adults disappeared. Gone.

Despite the hunger and the lies, even despite the plague, the kids of Perdido Beach are determined to survive. Creeping into the tenuous new world they've built, though, is perhaps the worst incarnation yet of the enemy known as the Darkness: fear.

Within the FAYZ, life breaks down while the Darkness takes over, literally—turning the dome-world of the FAYZ entirely black. In darkness, the worst fears of all emerge, and the cruelest of intentions are carried out. But even in their darkest moments, the inhabitants of the FAYZ maintain a will to survive and a desire to take care of the others in their ravaged band that endures, no matter what the cost.

So like the synopsis says, it has been one year since everyone over the age of 15 vanished. One year since havoc has faced the kids trapped in the dome. Let me just be straight out and say how I would probably be buried a long time ago. But luckily I am over the age of 15 so I get to vanish as well.

Will the whole magic act of a kid vanishing; one may say it is pretty scary. Since they don’t realize that they will be going outside of the dome. Even then you don’t realize what is happening until it already happens. And trust me, right now you do not want to be in the FAYZ at this moment.

As far as the character development, all the characters have changed whether they wanted to or not. Some for the good and some as you read for the bad. Positions of power get tossed around even to the point of calling someone king… Sam is one of my favorite characters but like pointed out in the book he wants to save everyone and be the big hero but he can’t. Yes some may argue that he doesn’t want to be that kid but deep down inside of him, he has to be. As the book goes on, his brother is the last person he has to really worry about. Something much darker is coming and trust me it won’t be pretty.

Now with the story, I have no clue how Michael Grant can sleep at night. I really don’t the pain, terror, and death of children throughout this book just makes me so happy to be where I am today. Even writing this review gives me chills that will probably stay with me for a couple of days. Who knows? The story is a brilliant creation that just gets better and better with every book.

In the sense of love in this book, it gets a little tricky. Happy couples are not so happy, people come out with truths one would not expect. And sometimes I want to slap people for being so childish with their fights and I know that they want to protect the people they love but seriously come on. You are either with the person or not, I do not believe in one second your with the guy and next you hate his guts and then he says he sorry and your back together. If I wanted to read that I would go look at Taylor Swift’s life. Seriously grow up.

Overall this book was emotional, heart racing, fast paced read that no one should ever give up the chance to read. Michael Grant’s world explodes and keeps you hanging on till the very end. Even when it’s dark all around. Fearfully brilliant, Fear is a book worth reading.

I give it 5 bites!
