How can one day go so very wrong? One minute Meara Quinn is making plans for how she will spend the Summer before her senior year and the next she's finding out that her mother's cancer has returned and they are moving away from the only home she's ever known. Now every day is a struggle as Meara is trying to cope with her mother's illness, being forced to move to another country to live with grandparents-whom she thought disowned her mother-and having weird visions of a father who was absent her entire life. Top it all off with one whopping secret that everyone seems bent on keeping from her, and Meara has the perfect ingredients for a major melt down. The only things keeping her from coming unglued are some new friends and Evan-the son of her mother's childhood friend-who seems to know Meara almost better than she knows herself. Together with Evan and her friends, Meara embarks on a new journey to unlock the secrets that will not only tell Meara who she is, but what she is.

I have this thing that I want to read diverse books so when reading books in a row, I try to read different genres so that I can build onto that diversity. So when picking up Never Forgotten I thought I was picking up a contemporary but what I got instead was a fantasy with a twist.

This book was so much better than I was expecting it to be. I am nervous when authors email me and ask me to review their book because I usually have never heard of the book and do not know what to expect. However, after reading this book I will definitely be checking this author out again. The story was great, it kept me interested after every chapter, and it totally caught me off guard.

Meara is your normal high school girl who is about to enter her senior year, has summer plans with her best friend but that all changes when her mom’s cancer comes back and they are forced to move back with her parents in Canada. The grandparents who Meara has never met before. She must start a whole new life but after moving back she starts having strange dreams that slowly start to become a reality and she is reconnected with a person she has never thought she would ever see again. Her dad!

So much emotion is put into this book and there is so much decisions that Meara has to make and just let me tell you that the twist will catch you off guard. I was in the car and I almost dropped my nook. I was so surprised but that is the thing that I loved most about this book. Now a days you can usually have a really good guess about what is going to happen but this was not the case.

Kelly Risser is a stunning author that I am glad I took the chance of checking out her book. I am looking forward to her next book in the series and I hope you take these chances because you never know what you will find.

Happy Reading!
