"When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?
Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna’s heart. When the Branch decides it’s time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.
Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There’s just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.
Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they’re both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away."

A different read that blew my mind, I totally love it!

The plot of the book is what got me hooked. Several boys living in a locked facility being tested on, secret government meetings, and a curious young girl who is not who she think she is…yup, loved it. Each chapter, the reader learn more and more about the secret facility, leading the reader to a breakout and the unloading of heavy burdens. For a moment while reading this, I had to catch my breath!

The love interest is good but it did bother me a bit. For some reason (I’m sure it if is me) ALSO: SPOILER AHEAD —> I’m bothered by the prospects of a boy falling in one with one sister and then the other. Is that weird? I mean, the love triangle in general already sets off the tone for me and then this??? Anyways, other than that, the love interest is what I thought. Lots of lies, torn hearts and of course lots of decisions to be made. I’m not sure how this love interest will go and I’m very interested in seeing where it develops.

The other element I love about this story is the learning the back round history of the characters. Much of their memories have been lost. Learning about who they really are and what they done in the past, perks my interest even more. I want to know everything from the beginning. I want to know everything of who they are and why they were chosen. Yes, I need the next book.

Altered is a fantastic book! Laced with much action and loads of secrets, this is a great ride to be on if you love the types of stories that hold more that what you know. Yearning to read the next book, Altered is awesome!

I give it 5 BITES!

I have been seeing a lot of mixed reviews on this one, but it still has my interest. I love that you get to learn the characters backgrounds slowly. Also, I am big on action and I have been reading a lot of really slow books. Fab review Savy!

Hmmm. Because of that spoiler I’m super interested to see what I’ll think of Sam and his relationship with Anna. Despite that small niggle, it’s clear overall this is a fabulous book, and I hope I get a chance to read it soon Savy!

  3. Oh this makes me curious. That spoiler and then 5 bites? SO curious! 🙂 I do think that would bother me as well. Hm…

I definitely want to read this. I’ve heard such good things, and your review makes me even more excited to check it out. Regarding the spoiler—you’re not weird, that sort of thing would bother me too. But it also makes me more curious. 🙂 Wonderful review!

I actually didn’t really have this one on my radar even though I have seen the cover a lot, I didn’t really know what it was about. But your review definitely has me more interested now!
