I was blown away with Lowry’s first book The Giver and I started have these feels before I had even picked up the second book. I was not sure what was going to happen, where she was going to go with it, and if I was going to be satisfied or not. Although Gathering Blue is in a series, it can be read as a standalone. I have to admit that I was really shocked when I found out that this was a total different story. I was expecting to see Jonas and Gabe and see what happened to them, however, this was not the case. I remember this book back in sixth grade but I never read it for my class. Now that I have to read it for one of my college classes I was thinking how this book was a collegiate level book. However, that all changed as soon as I got about half way through it. After getting half way I did not care if this was a collegiate book or not, I did love all of it. I do not even know if that is correct, I was an emotional wreck. The story follows a boy named Jonas who lives in a society where they have rules that all must follow.
