Bump Update: 4 Weeks

Oct •  8 •  2014

Hello everyone and welcome to my first update. As promised, I will be doing an bump update once a month.

Here I am at 4 weeks pregnant:

According to Babycenter here is what my baby is doing at 4 weeks pregnant:

“Right now your baby is an embryo the size of a poppy seed, consisting of two layers: the epiblast and the hypoblast, from which all of her organs and body parts will develop.

The primitive placenta is also made up of two layers at this point. Its cells are tunneling into the lining of your uterus, creating spaces for your blood to flow so that the developed placenta will be able to provide nutrients and oxygen to your growing baby when it starts to function at the end of this week.

Also present now are the amniotic sac, which will house your baby; the amniotic fluid, which will cushion her as she grows; and the yolk sac, which produces your baby’s red blood cells and helps deliver nutrients to her until the placenta has developed and is ready to take over this duty.”

How am I feeling?

1. I had to get maternity clothes already! I know. I thought this is too soon to start showing but my stomach has pop out a bit. My OBGYN says that this is normal for women who had a previous pregnancy. Basically your body knows what its doing so things happen faster than the first pregnancy.

2. 5 am pee break. Yup, that too. Every morning at exactly 5 am, I have to rush to the bathroom before I pee my pants. Again, doc said it normal as well.

3. No morning sickness. YAY for this one! So far I feel nothing. No queasiness, no upset stomach. Nada. I feel extremely blessed that I do not suffer this (yet). I know a few friends who had it badly. I’m hoping that it stays this way.

4. I get hot easily. I’m a type of person who loves to sleep in the cold. Like really cold. Lately I’ve been getting hot at night so I have a fan pointed at me to help me feel comfortable.

5. Running. I’m keeping up with my running fine. Doc says I can run so long as I listen to my body and don’t over exert myself. Just to be on the safe side, I run/walk. So I give myself time to breathe as well as drink lots of water.

What am I craving?

1. ICE CREAM! Pretty much anything with milk. Cereal, cheese, yogurt, hot chocolate. Any diary products I crave.

2. Spicy stuff. Yup bring on the hot sauce, chipotle sauce, that green sauce. Anything spicy I will eat. LOVE IT!

That’s its folks. First month is easy for me. Any mothers who had a second child have any advice/tips for me? Any books recommendations? I appreciate anything ya’ll can give me.

Happy Reading!
