One year. One woman. One Diary. One question: can you ever stop history from repeating itself and if you could what would you do to stop it?

When Lilah McCannon realises at the age of twenty-five that history is going to repeat itself and she is going to become her mother—bored, drunk and wearing a twinset—there is only one thing to do: take drastic action.

Turning her back on her old life, Lilah’s plan is to enrol at university, get a degree and prove she is a grown-up.

As plans go, it is a good one. There are rules to follow: no alcohol, no cigarettes, no boys and no going home. But when Lilah meets the lead singer of a local band and finds herself unexpectedly falling in love, she realises her rules are not going to be the only things hard to keep.

With the academic year slipping by too quickly, Lilah faces a barrage of new challenges: will she ever make it up the Library stairs without having a heart attack? Can she handle a day on campus without drinking vodka? Will she ever manage to read a history book without falling asleep? And most importantly, can she become the grown-up that she desperately wants to be.
With her head and her heart pulling her in different directions can Lilah learn the hardest lesson that her first year of university has to teach her: The Art of Letting Go?

Introducing Benjamin Chambers

Something rather strange happened to me as I wrote The Art of Letting Go. It was supposed to be about a girl but I really ended up writing a story about a boy with a guitar who falls in love with a girl and does everything that he can to be with her. I don’t why it happened that way but while Lilah McCannon is my main character and the reason my story exists, the reason I keep on writing is because of Benjamin Chambers; damn I love that man.

I thought you might love him too if I told you a little about him,  so with no further ado here is my leading man Benjamin Chambers.

Stats

Blue eyes – cornflower blue like the sky at midday, surrounded with freckle and crinkles.

Black hair which stands on end and is completely untameable – no matter how many times you run your fingers through it.

6 ft2

Slim, but well defined (read scorching hot).

Long slim fingers, perfect for playing guitar but even better for entwining with your own.

Ben owns an easy artistic grace and moves with a commanding determination guaranteed to make your stomach drop.

Breath-taking rock star smile or cocky grin…take your pick.

Hobbies / Interests

Ben plays both the guitar and piano but has a preference for his guitar. Ben writes lyrics and tunes in his spare time, or he likes to stare into space a lot. Ben loves to read but he is not fond of the library. Ben is a natural academic but spends as little time studying as possible. Ben enjoys cooking and cooks a mean spaghetti Bolognese. Ben is at his most comfortable and sexiest when standing on the front of a stage with his guitar in his hands. Personality Can be very romantic, especially when it is least expected. Straight talking. Ben is single minded in his approach in is approach to what he wants. Ben is fiercely protective of those he loves, including him mum, sisters and of course Lilah. Ben can always see the whole picture, even if he has to wait for others to see it too. Ben finds attention from girls very uncomfortable. Ben has waited all his life to meet the ‘right’ girl. Ben is never scared to show his emotion and he would never hide his feelings.

So this is Ben, well just a few elements of Ben. And no he is not perfect, but then who is? So if you want to know more, give The Art of Letting Go a read and maybe Benjamin Chambers can win you over too.
